Sophie van Ittersum (born 1976) grew up in Heino (near Zwolle). Since the age of 18, she has been living in 'the metropolis' Amsterdam. She is an expert and has been working in estate agency for many years – since 2000 as an estate agent and since 2005 as an NVM certified estate agent/valuer. Sophie loves sailing and has a boat in Monnickendam. She also likes spending time with friends inside or outside the city.

My area
Grachtengordel ("Canal Belt") and Vondelpark – these places are particularly beautiful in the early morning when I cycle along/through them on my way to the office or an appointment.

My favourite restaurant/bar
Walem on the Keizersgracht. For a drink or a bowl of soup, after work. I don't really have another favourite – with the right people, anywhere can be nice!

My experience of the Dokter Estate Agency
In the turbulent Amsterdam real estate market, we succeed by keeping both feet on the ground. I work at Dokter because I enjoy being part of the enthusiastic Dokter team, and every day I whistle happily on my way to the office.

My most memorable sale
That would be the sale of an old cycle shed / printing works in Amsterdam. It had a unique location in a courtyard garden, and so the whole of Amsterdam came to view the project. It was large, a bit crazy and completely different (that's what everyone wants), hence all the reaction we got to it. The ultimate buyers have converted it into a living/working space.
