In 2008, the Dokter Estate Agency has started to help in the building of a Rainbow Home in Pune, Hyderabad or Mumbai* in India. A Rainbow Home is a school that offers shelter as well as education to street children in India. By setting up Rainbow Homes, the Partnership Foundation provides structural assistance to street children in India in terms of education, shelter and reintegration. The ordinary school children give 1-to-1 lessons to the street children. After the lessons, the street children roll out their mats in the classrooms and so have somewhere to stay for the night.
Rainbow Homes are an initiative of the Partnership Foundation www.partnershipfoundation.nl, a Dutch charity that tackles the problems of homeless street children in India in a structural and effective manner. We are impressed by this approach: not just talking, but taking action. In the 21st century, corporate social responsibility is not just an issue for multinationals like Shell, Unilever and Philips: smaller companies – like the Dokter Estate Agency – can and will make a contribution to a better and cleaner world. For this reason, we donate a percentage of our fees for each transaction to the Partnership Foundation. In this way, we provide 'accommodation' not only in Amsterdam, but also in India.
